Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Escanor Player (bundle identifier: com.weprod.Escanor-Player), developed by weprod / MohamedAli (the “Developer”), handles information when you use the App.
Escanor Player is a video player for your own videos (local files, network drives such as SMB or WebDAV, and home media servers such as Jellyfin, Plex, or Emby), with optional Trakt sync. The App does not provide or sell video content.
1. Summary
- No ads. The App does not show advertising.
- No tracking for advertising or cross-app tracking. The Developer does not use third-party ad or analytics trackers to follow you across apps and websites.
- The Developer does not sell your personal data.
- Most of what you do in the App stays on your device unless you choose optional features described below.
2. Information stored on your device
Network drive and home media server credentials
If you connect network drives (for example SMB or WebDAV) or home media servers (for example Jellyfin, Plex, or Emby), credentials and connection settings are stored on your device, typically in the iOS Keychain or other secure on-device storage. They are used only to connect to those resources you configure. The Developer does not receive your server or network passwords.
Local library and playback data
Information about your local library, playback position, and similar preferences is stored on your device (and, if you enable it, may sync via iCloud as described below).
3. Optional features that send data off the device
Trakt (optional)
If you connect Trakt, the App shares with Trakt the information needed for that sync—typically watch history, progress, and related activity you choose to sync—under Trakt’s own terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect Trakt in the App. The Developer does not control Trakt’s practices.
Purchase verification (App Store + Haki)
Paid features (Escanor Player+) are purchased through the Apple App Store. To confirm your entitlement, the App may send App Store purchase receipts (or related purchase tokens) and an anonymous device or purchase identifier to the Developer’s purchase-verification service (Haki). That service verifies purchases with Apple and stores subscription or entitlement status. It is not used for advertising.
Metadata lookups (for example TMDB)
If you use metadata features (artwork, titles, descriptions), the App may send titles or other lookup identifiers you select to metadata providers such as TMDB (The Movie Database) to fetch matching information. Those providers process requests under their own policies. Do not use metadata lookup for content you are not comfortable associating with an online query.
iCloud sync (if you enable it)
If you turn on iCloud-related sync features, Apple may store and sync the data those features cover (for example settings or library-related data the App designates for sync) under Apple’s privacy policy and your iCloud account. The Developer does not operate Apple’s iCloud servers.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not serve ads in the App.
- We do not use the App to track you for advertising across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We do not require an account with the Developer to play your local files.
5. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). The Developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact escanor@ironback.app and it will be deleted where applicable.
6. Data retention
- On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Purchase verification records are kept as needed to maintain entitlements, prevent abuse, and meet legal or accounting needs.
- Third parties you choose to connect (Trakt, metadata providers, Apple) keep data under their own policies.
7. Your choices
- Do not connect Trakt, network drives, or home media servers if you prefer not to.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Apple ID subscription settings.
- Turn off iCloud sync features for the App in system or App settings where available.
- Uninstall the App to remove local data stored only on the device (subject to any iCloud copies you keep).
8. Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when that happens. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
